About Me
MY STORY
Where did it begin?
There has never been a moment in my life when I did not love pictures: being in them, cherishing them, taking them. Indeed, I have always loved seeing a moment frozen in time. However, I suppose most people would look at my personal history and say that my journey as a photographer began as a sophomore in high school.
Loss and Love
Having grown up in a humble household with a school teacher father and a homemaking mother on a family farm with 8 younger siblings, it is safe to say life was full from the moment go. Consequently what we lacked in material belongings was made up for in emotional structure. Nevertheless; on one cold December morning, when I was a sophomore in high school, we lost what little earthly possessions we did own in a devastating house fire.
Without dwelling too much on the subject I will skip to the part where I say the only pictures that remain of my childhood are the few that were mailed out to family. Luckily technology has helped to ensure that this is not everyone’s photography origin story in regards to the loss of precious memories. For this photographer, these events started me down the path of obsessively documenting everything I saw in my world.
Eye of the Beholder
As I began to transition from hobby photographer in to professional I tried to not limit myself on what type of pictures I was willing to take. Despite that, over the years an obvious style and skill set began to emerge. Although I am still known to dabble in just about anything, ultimately I found love specializing in 3 different categories:
Intimate Landscape
Storm Photography
Narrative Photography
My desire is to share the way I see the world with you. I seek to challenge how you see everyday details, learn to see what is often overlooked or purposefully ignored. Let me help you spark conversation, capture those fleeting and awe-inspiring moments, and persuade you to pause in wonder.
